The Brief:
Create attractive road side plantings for the 500m long drive/walk from the main entrance to the buildings, using plants and trees that occur naturally in the Eastern Cape.

The Concept:
Due to the huge scale of the site, a berm was created to host trees and shrubs next to the roads and entrance to the distribution centre.

The Challenge:
Intensely strong winds; lack of soil and most of all the existing topsoil was only 100mm thick and the rest was a deep limestone geological bank.

The Implementation:
The landscape contractor sourced compost and some plants in Port Elizabeth and others were imported from Cape Town.

Timing:
3 Months
